Composer of Amor, Amor, Amor
Gabriel Ruíz Galindo born in 1908 in Mexico, told his parents that music was his life and quit the study of medicine. His father was very displeased but the world of music a better place as Gabriel Ruíz became the "Melody Maker of America".
His song Amor, Amor, Amor reached the charts three times in one year. The song was first performed in 1944 by Lena Horne in "Broadway Rhythm". In April of 1944, Spanish bandleader Enric Madriguera was the first hit version of the song. Followed in June with Andy Russell's single. In July, Bing Crosby's version became the biggest hit version, spending three weeks at No. 2. A week after Crosby's version entered the chart, Xavier Cugat's single debuted and also became a top 10 hit.
But that was not all. It charted twice on the Hot 100 in the early 1960's, first by Ben E. King, then by Roger Williams.
