May 1st 2006  Un Dia Sin Inmigrante

On May 1, we are calling
No Work, No School, No Sales, and No Buying,
and also to protest the anti-immigrant movements
with rallies across the country.

On May 1, we will wear a white t-shirt and/or white arm band.
Go to rally, protest, strike, vigil, work or school.
We will have a ocean of white T-shirts
with our political demands from east coast to west coast-
at the street, work place, school, bus station & store.
Our voices will be LOUD AND CLEAR!

We will settle for nothing less than full amnesty and dignity
for the millions of undocumented workers presently in the U.S.

American National Anthem in Spanish

Hispanic artists unite to show support for the immigrants in
America and recorded America's national anthem in Spanish.

Artists on the
Nuestro Himno song include
Ivy Queen,Gloria Trevi, PitBull, Daddy Yankee, Wyclef Jean,
Carlos Ponce, Olga Tanon and others.

The song will be featured on the album
Somos Americanos
which will sell for $10, with $1 going to the National Capital
Immigration Coalition, a Washington group.

Pres. Bush opposes it and says the anthem should be in english
and immigrants should learn the anthem in english.
Well, Dear Mr. President,
Immigrants do want to sing the National Anthem in English.
That is the point.  They want to be citizens of this great country.
Oh, George don't you see...?

California Senate Endorses May 1st Boycott

By a 24-13 vote that split along party lines, the California Senate
approved a resolution that calls the one-day protest the Great
American Boycott 2006 and describes it as an attempt to educate
Americans "about the tremendous contribution immigrants make
on a daily basis to our society and economy."

The boycott, also called "A Day Without Immigrants" is a way to
demonstrate immigrants' importance to the U.S. economy.

Segregation was ended in part because of the public bus boycott
by blacks in Montgomery, Ala., in 1955, said Romero.

Sen. Gil Cedillo, D-Los Angeles, likened the debate over
immigrant rights to the fights over slavery, women's suffrage, the
internment of Japanese during World War II, &  the Vietnam War.

America wouldn't have been created without illegal action, said
Sen. Richard Alarcon, D-Van Nuys. "They dumped a bunch of
tea in Boston harbor, illegally. God bless them," he said.
